Vectos helps obtain approval of £40m Exeter retail park
Vectos is pleased to have helped CPG Properties and Growen Estates achieve approval for the £40m Moor Exchange retail park on the edge of Exeter.
The development is set to include a Next, M&S Simply Food, Boots, a drive-through McDonald’s and a drive-through Costa.
Vectos Director Jonathan Lloyd said he is delighted to hear that Moor Exchange was approved at planning committee yesterday evening, having been involved in the site for the best part of 10 years.
“I’m elated for CPG Properties and Growen Estates, who have been working on the current plans for the past three years,” he said.
“This is an exciting new retail and commercial heart to Monkerton, Hill Barton and Sowton. It will provide a gateway to the city and a much-needed centre for workers and residents in this area, providing a range of day-to-day services on the doorstep.”
Vectos is proud to have developed a detailed understanding of the key push-pull factors for the City and County Council while applying a contemporary approach to movement, mobility and community planning.
“Without this local provision up to 3,500 local workers are being forced into their cars at lunchtime or after work to seek retail provision further afield,” he said.
“We have worked closely with our clients and the highway officers to strengthen the sustainable credentials of the scheme and are pleased with the host of transport-related benefits it will provide. To address air quality issues there will be significant investment in EV charging, EV car and e-bike spaces and a modern bus fleet.
“The location of the site offers great access to key mobility hubs including the Honiton Road P&R; regular, attractive and convenient bus services; and the well-developed local cycle network. Moreover, those travelling past the site in their car on their way home from work can pop in without deviating from their usual route.”
Up to 450 jobs for local people could be created and if a further reserved matters planning application is approved by Exeter City Council, building works could commence towards the end of 2020.
