Alastair Pike appointed to Society of Road Safety Auditors (SoRSA) Committee

Congratulations to Vectos’ Head of Road Safety, Alastair Pike, for his appointment to the national CIHT Society of Road Safety Auditors (SoRSA) as Committee Member and representative for the Welsh Region.

SoRSA was established by CIHT to provide a national forum to exchange safety auditing and safety engineering best practice, and to provide advice and ultimately routes to professional recognition for safety auditing practitioners.

Alastair said he is looking forward to getting involved in the committee and making a positive difference to road safety across the country.

“I have a passion for road safety and always seek to provide real, tangible benefits to road users while creating spaces that are not only safe in operation, but also desirable for users.”

“In Great Britain, there were 1,782 reported road deaths in 2018. The fact that 1,782 families are still being impacted by such tragedies is unacceptable and I am committed to affecting positive change,” he said.

“All of the changes we are starting to see in road space allocation, shared surfaces and car use as well as the introduction of emerging technologies like driverless and connected vehicles will put a greater onus on road safety during this everchanging time, and I’m very excited to be a part of this.”

At Vectos, Alastair is responsible for the management of Road Safety across the country. He has 15 years’ experience in the fields of highway engineering design and road safety engineering within both the private and public sectors. He is also responsible for project management and advising clients on highways, traffic, transportation and road safety matters relating to various land use development proposals, highway schemes and safety studies.
